Called to Rise

These past few weeks we have had no words to explain all that is in our hearts. The flood of emotions as the unrest continues here in Nicaragua. Our hearts are broken for so many lives lost, for so many hurting people desperate for justice and for freedom.

And, honestly, we have hopes and dreams of our own that have been put on hold. Dreams that we know God has put in our hearts for Nicaragua. But in comparison to those who have lost their lives in this ugly battle against injustice, our personal hopes and dreams and summer plans just don't feel very significant.

We are heartbroken. For Nicaragua. For too many lives lost. For job losses and food scarcity and closed businesses. For so many people that we love. For friends who have had to return to the States. For missions teams that have cancelled their trips for safety reasons. All of it.

As a family we have had to talk through some really hard things. How do you pick up and move forward and keep trusting God's goodness when it appears that darkness has overshadowed everything else?

God in his goodness is reminding us daily that He is enough. That he is faithful and this battle belongs to him. He is working through the darkness.

He's reminding us that he is calling us to RISE up. To trust him in the dark because he is the only light that we need. We are declaring that HOPE is RISING here and now as we pray for peace and justice to rain down like water over this beautiful country and these people.

Speak up for the people who have no voice.
Speak out for justice!
Stand up for the poor and destitute.
— Proverbs 31:8
